Lukas asked me to put up a post listing my favorite games from this past generation of systems. NextGen systems included Gamecube, Playstation 2, Xbox, and GameBoy Advance. I’ve been told that the DS is grouped with the PSP, 360, PS3, and Wii in the next NextGen. PC games are in their own little universe.

11. Burnout Revenge – PS2
Lukas asked for ten, but I listed eleven because Burnout is straight-up too fucking good to not include.
This list is by no means scientific and I have certainly left absent a sizeable number of great games, but Lukas asked for my absolute favorite games of the generation. As such, you won’t find terrific games like Ratchet and Clank or Psychonauts on that list. Furthermore, any game that has a particularly glaring flaw, despite how kickass it might otherwise be, has been left unlisted. For instance, Super Mario Sunshine is a really, really great game that turns into a complete fucking nightmare after about 50 shines. I’m also not including games that, though excellent, cause too much pain to think about (e.g. Star Wars Rogue Leader).
Also worth mentioning, from everything that I have heard my list would undoubtedly contain Resident Evil 4 somewhere in the top four if I had ever bothered to actually play the game. However, RE:4 has been sitting on my shelf, nearly untouched for about a year now. Someday soon, perhaps…
