I made a bet with my roommate and now I am catching a bunch of flak from it. Personally, I don’t see what the big deal is.
The bet is really simple.
He bet me an undisclosed amount of money (it just sounds better that way) that I could not make a 30-yard field goal. I have five attempts from the 20-yard line and all I need to do is make one. If I do make one of the kicks he gets one chance to make a rebuttal, also from the 20, to push the bet.
I’ve never kicked a field goal from any distance ever, but this really doesn’t seem that tough to me. I mean… you just kick the shit out of the ball, right? I will probably take those three steps backwards and two steps to the left like they always do on tv… and then I’ll kick it really hard.
Simple enough.
And yet, so far everyone who has been told about the bet has immediately busted up laughing (at me).
Am I missing something?

when i watched the American Choppers episode where the Tuttles went to the Jet’s practice facilities, they tried their hand (or foot) at kicking field goals and it looked pretty tough. Maybe that’s why everyone’s been laughing?
I want to see this on videotape (well digital video), please.

i’d bet a large large sum that you cannot make a 30 yarder. when did/will the bet take place?

I’d take Jason’s side of the bet if I was Jason; I bet I can make that field goal. It at least wouldn’t be very far off. Jason on the other hand is going to miss terribly and I also want it filmed so we can share in the laughter.
