I got rid of the sword and changed the sides to brown. Is that better? I’m not sure what the common complaint is towards my new look, but my guess would be the lack of a sidebar? It takes a little time to get used to, but I vastly prefer it. Without a sidenav the focus of my website is the actual writing. The only thing I miss so far is the quick access to recent comments. I’m not sure how I can work that back in though.

Earlier this week I stumbled my way into a pretty great deal over at the local GameCrazy. I have long had a personal rule against video game trade-ins, likely due to my first hand knowledge of how badly EB screws over the public. However, after stumbling into a website that listed the current trade-in values of my older games I decided that…

1) I have a ton of games that I have finished playing and/or will never play again
2) The games are worth nothing to me sitting on a shelf
3) Ten dollars is better than zero dollars

… so I picked out a few of my crappier titles and carried them over to GameCrazy. Being the luckbox that I am the store employee informed me that I had walked right into an unadvertised one-week-only special for trade-ins. In addition to the standard game credit I was given an additional 50% of the trade-in value. That might not seem special, but compared to EB – where our all-time best trade-in special was a bonus 5 dollars per game – the deal was nigh unheard of. I traded in my two DS games (Pokemon:Pearl and Mario 64) and ended up getting Phoenix Wright plus cash back. I have gone back twice more; first getting a slightly better than even trade of Rayman for Resident Evil 4. On the third trip I traded in 4 DS games (Mario Kart, Dragon Quest Heroes, Wario Ware, Castlevania) and 2 Wii games (Red Steel, Wario Ware) for pure store credit. I preordered both Mario Strikers and Smash Bros and still have better than $150 left over. Too bad nothing good comes out until August.
