I’m waiting on our systems team before I can actually do any more work so I might as well write a bit.

Lukas showed me a link to GetaFreelancer.com yesterday. It is a pretty cool site, but the most incredible thing about it is the fact that it was my idea. Well, I don’t know the guy who made it, and he probably didn’t steal it from me, so let’s just agree that it was our idea. But actually, it was my idea first. Just after returning from California in the fall of ’03 I was brushing my teeth when the revelation hit me. I couldn’t fall asleep that night, ideas tearing through my head, so I stayed up and wrote a 4 page paper detailing my idea for a website that would serve as an auction house between freelance developers and small contractors. I put the design spec online and linked to it in my away message/profile. Over the next few days I was told by several people that the idea was decent but unrealistic and that, quote-unquote, “it would never work”. Well… it looks like you were wrong. The footnotes of the website show a copyright of 2004, a full year after my epiphany. What is funny about the site is how remarkably similar it is to the design I spit out on that fateful night. At any rate, big ups to the people at Innovate It for having good ideas too.

I finally got my computer all built and running last night. I got home at 630 with the expectation to be online by 715. Around 2am I stopped installing drivers and called it a night. I ran into a lot of problems along the way but made it in the end; a better, wiser man because of it. In my race to reformat my drive I managed to save every episode of Clone Wars while losing every single document and email from the past 2 years. So… that’s good.

Nobody Cares Yet.
