I’ve decided that I can never be a project manager or anyone who deals with clients on any superficial level. It’s not that I’m not smart enough, or anything like that. I just don’t have the unbridled enthusiasm that a role like that seems to require.

Along with the specs for my latest project was a series of emails between the client and one of our managers. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud (literally… I broke out an LOL IRL) when I read through the conversation. No matter how utterly mundane it’s content, every email ended on an artificially upbeat note. Behold an excerpt…

Right now only their names only appear in the drop down menu of the office selected at the top of the bio info. Secondary offices are listed under “State Admissions.”

I look forward to hearing from you!!!

Joanne – can you clarify where on the site when you say “drop down menus of both offices”?

Thanks!

Hi Joanne-
My answers appear in green – just let me know if this makes sense!

Maybe exclamation points have lost their meaning to a lot of people, but I am still among the antiquated few who expect the exclamation point to signify, well, an exclamation. Has punctuation become merely syntactical window dressing, used as decoration in place of substance? Or has shallowness and superficiality simply found a new means of expression in the post Instant Messaging world? Thanks a lot AOL.
